History of RE/MAX Alliance

Chuck Ochsner, a native Coloradan, started this business in 1978 and laid a solid foundation for growth. It was a time when most transactions were face to face, when his personal touch won him a loyal customer base and when his hard work and vision helped others find or build the house that would become their home.

He started small, but he had an uncanny ability to recognize opportunities. He believed that if he worked hard enough, his goals would be attainable. He framed his philosophy on the principles of mutual respect, trust, customer service and quality. These core principles would serve us well as the business became more sophisticated and expanded across Metro Denver.

Over the years, we have indeed broadened our activities and specialization from residential real estate and construction to include land development, commercial and industrial real estate, investment and relocation services. To aid in this diversification, we have added skilled staff, automated our systems, and in 1985 joined the RE/MAX family. What an invaluable global network of resources that promote the real estate goals of our customers and clients.

We use this technology and wealth of state-of-the-art resources to our customers’ advantage, but we retain a sense of our history, a respect for what we set out to accomplish, and the realization that the expertise and integrity of our people are at the heart of our success.

RE/MAX Equity Group

In 2016, Chuck and Chad Ochsner purchased the largest real estate firm in Oregon. They are now the owners of a 12 office brokerage, RE/MAX Equity Group, boasting nearly double the market share of the closest competitor in the Portland metro area.

Ochsner says the new ownership team will provide an entrepreneurial style that can be very nimble and respond quickly to the demands of a rapidly evolving real estate market. Alan Mehrwein, the current vice president of brokerage management will become the new brokerage president, but no other management changes are expected.

“It’s going to be business as usual with no operational changes, however, both brokerages should benefit from economies of scale from our great vendors and the sharing of best practices,” added Ochsner.

Ochsner plans to make occasional visits to Portland, but he and his father will remain in Colorado and focused on their RE/MAX Alliance offices. They do not anticipate this acquisition will have any impact on their local agents or their agents’ customers.
